THUNDER BAY – Student Union of Confederation College Inc. vice-president Madison Schell will serve as the president of the College Student Alliance in 2016-17.

It’s a first for the Thunder Bay college, according to a release issued on Monday.

“Students are the future,” said Schell. “Investing in their overall well-being and happiness is an essential step in developing well-rounded professionals who will make a difference in our country. I am proud to help lead students and our institutions in taking that step."

The CSA is an advocacy group representing students studying at college in Ontario and represents 16 student unions from 12 member colleges.

“Madison has been an important leader and advocate for the students of Confederation College,” said Lynne Savela, Executive Director of SUCCI. “Her new position will allow her to achieve a new level of advocacy for student interests at post-secondary institutions across the province. We are confident she will excel in her new role and extend our congratulations to her.”
