SIOUX LOOKOUT – Conservation officers are alleging an angler at a Sioux Lookout walleye tournament cut the tails of the fish in order for it to meet the provincial size standards.
The incident occured on June 11, while conservation officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a joint operation during the tournament.
A 23-year-old Sioux Lookout resident was subsequently charged with possession of a fish of prohibited size under a sport fishing licence, contrary to Ontario fishing regulations.
The accused, who has not been named, faces a Sept. 15 court date.
