Toronto, ON – Ronald (Ron) Clapp of Fort Frances is thrilled after winning $50,000 in the June 25, 2016 ONTARIO 49 draw. Ron also won $2 from his ENCORE selection, bringing his total winnings to $50,002.

“I checked the numbers for my ONTARIO 49 selection online,” shared Ron while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he picked up his cheque. “I told my wife we won $500.”

After Ron’s wife reviewed the numbers in the selection she asked if he checked the bonus number. “We had the correct bonus number. When we looked up the prize amount it said we won $50,000!”

To get the confirmation he needed, Ron headed back to the store. “The retailer confirmed that my ticket was a ‘Big Winner’ but I was so nervous I had to leave the store. I returned later that day and validated my ticket.”

The trip to the Prize Centre in Toronto was a full day affair. “We travelled four hours by car to the airport in Thunder Bay. Then we hopped on a two hour flight.”

Ron has big plans for his windfall. “Winning the lottery means I can now do the things it would have taken me years to save to do, including restoration work on my vintage car. We would also like to renovate our home. My retirement date was actually five days after I won the lottery and now I have two reasons to celebrate!” concluded Ron.

ONTARIO 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m.  For more information, please visit the Lotteries section on olg.ca.

The winning ticket was purchased at Maddy’s Little Store on Second Street in Fort Frances.
