NAPS raid nets hundreds of Oxy pills

(Attawapiskat, ON)  On July 13, 2016, members of the Attawapiskat Detachment of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service began an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for illegal drugs destined for Attawapiskat First Nation.

Police investigation led to the seizure of two hundred twenty-eight (228) Oxycodone prescription pills.

Forty-three (43) year-old Junior FIREMAN of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Additionally, on June 24, 2016, Attawapiskat Detachment members investigated a report of drugs destined for Attawapiskat, where the police seized a total of one hundred twenty-six (126) Oxycodone prescription pills.

Two men and one woman, all from Attawapiskat have each been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

All the accused have been released on conditions and will next appear in court in Attawapiskat First Nation on November 16, 2016.

Attawapiskat First Nation is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario.
