The investigation into the crash involving a black Dodge SUV, driven by a 54 year old female Thunder Bay resident, and a white Nissan SUV at the intersection of Edward St and Churchill Drive last Monday afternoon around 5 p.m. (25 July 2016) has been concluded.

The investigation has revealed that the black Dodge was northbound on Edward St and proceeded into the intersection on a red light. The white Nissan was westbound on Churchill Drive. Both vehicles were substantially damaged. The Dodge was struck squarely on the driver's side doors.

The driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the T.B.R.H.S.C. She has since been charged with the red light violation.

Airbags and integral vehicle crumple zones are important life saving features of most new vehicles, but seatbelts are still critical to surviving a crash. All occupants of both vehicles were properly belted at the time of this crash.
