Toronto, ON – Liisa Luoma from Thunder Bay is celebrating after winning $114,383.70 from the July 27, 2016 LOTTO 6/49 draw. Liisa matched five numbers plus the bonus number to win a secondary prize.

“After picking up some groceries, I decided to check my ticket at the ticket checker,” recalled Liisa while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where she got her big cheque. “I saw ‘Big Winner’ followed by the amount flash on the screen and I was in shock. The first thing out of my mouth was ‘Oh my Gosh!’ and the retailer, who was nearby asked if I was okay.” Liisa responded, “I’m pretty sure I just won $114 thousand!” The retailer thought Liisa was joking.

Next, Liisa called her daughter to share the good news. “I was shaking the whole time. I also sent texts to my granddaughters. One of them replied, ‘For real?’ while the other one called and asked if I was kidding. And when I showed my partner the slip with the prize amount on it, he was thrilled.”

Liisa is planning to splurge a little on loved ones. “I will be giving my two sons and daughter along with my four grandchildren early Christmas gifts! As for myself, I plan to save a portion of my winnings and maybe take a trip somewhere warm with my partner. Plus do some home renovations. I have never won anything over $100 in my life! This is amazing,” concluded Liisa.

Since LOTTO 6/49 was launched in June 1982, there has been a total of 3,363 LOTTO 6/49 draws with Ontario players having won more than $11.2 billion in prizes, including 1,329 jackpot wins. There have been 340 Guaranteed $1 Million Prize draws to date. One hundred and forty-seven of the winning tickets have been sold in Ontario.
