Ontario Health Study Media Release

Thunder Bay— August 31, 2016. The Ontario Health Study (OHS) invites local residents to participate in a long-term health research study and learn more about their health at the Thunder Bay Study Centre, September 21st-22nd, at the LifeLabs Patient Service Centre located at 1040 Oliver Road.

The Thunder Bay Study Centre encourages area residents, aged 30-74 years, to complete a short online questionnaire and provide a blood sample that will enable researchers to better understand what affects our health and quality of life.

“LifeLabs is proud to work in partnership with the Ontario Health Study to build a healthier Ontario,” said Pierre Bou-Mansour, Chief Operating Officer at LifeLabs.

“We encourage the residents of Thunder Bay, and all Ontarians, to visit one of our convenient locations to give a sample and participate in a vital study that will help shape the future of our health care system.”

“Thunder Bay District Health Unit is very supportive of this study and we encourage people to participate,” said Dr. Janet DeMille, Medical Officer of Health.

“The information gathered in the study will improve our collective understanding of the factors that influence health and improve our ability to prevent diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. It is important that the Thunder Bay area be represented.”
