Some local lawyers visited a Thunder Bay elementary school Thursday to distribute free bicycle helmets to students.

Members of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the local Brain Injury Association were at McKellar Park School to distribute 150 helmets to students from kindergarten to Grade 5.

Duncan Macgillvray is a personal injury lawyer and president of the Brain Injury Association. He said in his profession he sees a lot of cycling injuries that can be prevented with the use of helmets.

And with Thursday being the first day of summer, he said it was the perfect time to promote bicycle safety.

The Helmets on Kids Community Partnership was started by the Lawyers Association in 2002.

Since then, the initiative has distributed more than 15-thousand helmets to elementary school students around Ontario.

I'm going to sue because they didn't give me one. They should have foresaw my next crash and acted in their duty to mitigate the flood...I mean crash.
