Anyone going hungry over the holiday is welcome at the Dew Drop Inn.
With 10 turkeys, four hams and 60 pounds of potatoes, the kitchen is in full swing at St. Andrew’s as they expect to see around 300 people on Monday afternoon.
“There’s lots of work to get done,” director Terri Favreau said as she put the first six large turkeys in the oven Saturday morning.
Favreau said last year 250 people were served Thanksgiving Dinner. But with the May flood, she expects to see more people. The Dew Drop Inn has been serving 200 people every day.
“Our numbers have gone up quite a bit,” she said.
Favreau added another four turkeys this year to try and meet the added demand.
“Our motto is ‘If you’re hungry you’re welcome here’,” she said. “Just to make sure nobody will go away hungry.”
The meal, which includes stuffing and all the trimming, will be served Monday at 2:30 p.m. Until then, Favreau and an army of volunteers will be busy getting it all together
“I’m blessed with a lot of very good volunteers,” Favreau said.
