THUNDER BAY -- Local residents can find out more about where their garbage goes this week.

The city and Eco Superior have teamed up to launch Waste Reduction Week, and on Monday they gathered at a school that's doing its part to reduce their environmental footprint.

Students from École Franco-Superieur were giving tours around the school to highlight some the initiatives they've been taking in.
Most of the initiatives are simple, such as re-using paper for photocopying and writing, or re-cycling and composting.

The students have even planted six new maple trees in the school yard. Organizers are offering many events around the city for the national campaign, including tours of the Recool recycling plant Tuesday morning, and the city landfill on Wednesday.

Anyone interested can contact EcoSuperior for more information.
