THUNDER BAY -- Michael Muia thought raising $40,000 in 40 days was an ambitious goal.

The owner of Michael’s Hair Design and Day Spa nearly doubled his own expectations.

The Forty in Forty campaign initiative raised an estimated $70,000 in support of head and neck cancer care through the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s Exceptional Cancer Care Campaign.

Muia was diagnosed with tongue cancer in October 2013 and underwent an extensive surgery in Toronto before landing in critical condition after an adverse reaction to chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

The campaign wrapped up on Friday night at the CLE Coliseum with a hair show, fashion show, live entertainment and prizes.
