THUNDER BAY -- John Trevisanutto knows what he’d like you to buy for a loved one for Christmas.

The well-known automotive dealer on Wednesday helped launch the 11th annual Motors and Muscles draw in support of Our Kids Count.

The top prize is a $24,770 Harley-Davidson Softail Classic, a bike any motorcycle enthusiast would love to call his or her own.

Trevisanutto, chairman of the draw, said over the history of the event they’ve raised more than $450,000 for local charities.

“This year it a reverse raffle, which means the last ticket out wins the motorcycle. There are cash prizes all the way through,” he said.

Only 650 tickets will be sold, with the draw occurring on Sept. 14 at the OLG Casino.

Trevisanutto said Our Kids Count is a great community charity that benefits hundreds of people throughout Thunder Bay.

“It’s a grassroots organization. They work with young families, young children. They also have a community kitchen which I’m passionate about, where people can come and cook. They can come as a group and share their stories, their recipes. I’ve always felt there’s a lot of community around a kitchen,” Trevisanutto said.

Gladys Berringer, executive director for Our Kids Count, called it one of their major fundraisers for the year.

Over the years it’s helped them grow.

“We are now providing kitchens to all populations. We have older adults, men, children, teens, youth. This year students from St. Anne’s School have come over and started cooking as well and bringing food back to their school,” she said.

“This fundraiser helps us ensure we can continue to do that work.”

Tickets are available at a number of locations in Thunder Bay, including Canadian Tire, Equipment World, Halfway Motors and Thunder Bay Harley-Davidson, as well as at Our Kids Count’s McKenzie Street headquarters.
