Body found in Lake of the Woods near Kenora

OPP are investigating after the body of a man was found in Lake of the Woods near the Main Street dock in Kenora on Sunday.

KENORA, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in Lake of the Woods near the city of Kenora.

According to an OPP media release, officers from the Kenora detachment were called to the Main Street dock after receiving reports of a possible body in the water on Sunday just before 1 p.m.

Upon arriving, police discovered a deceased male in the water. The man is described as Indigenous, possibly in his 40s, approximately five foot 10 inches tall, and has short brown hair with hints of grey, a slender build, a goatee style facial hair, and a small mole in the middle of his forehead.

He was found wearing a black windbreaker jacket, dark blue wind pants, and low cut beige hiking shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. The investigation is ongoing.
