Video: No injuries after vehicle catches fire

A single occupant escaped the Wednesday afternoon car fire.

THUNDER BAY - The lone occupant of a vehicle which caught on fire on Wednesday afternoon sustained no injuries.

According to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, the car became engulfed in flames in the northbound lane on Barton Street, behind the District Health Unit.

No other vehicles or people were affected by the fire.

District chief John Kaplanis said his preliminary investigation showed the cause of the incident to be "electrical in nature," with no suspicious cause suspected.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue used one pumper to extinguish the blaze.
