Two-vehicle collision closes section of Simpson Street

Police say medical incident may have led to crash, one man taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police says a male motorist likely had a medical incident which led to an afternoon collision on Simpson Street.

Acting traffic Sgt. Sal Carchidi on Wednesday said the crash occurred at about 12:15 p.m., adding the road will likely remain closed between Atlantic Avenue and McKenzie Street until about 6 p.m.

"Police responded to a two-vehicle collision with injuries," Carchidi said. "Subsequently we determined that one male on the scene was vital signs absent and was transported to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries."

Officers remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
