Residents of O’Connor Township celebrated their new barrier-free, energy efficient municipal office over the weekend.

The celebration Saturday also marked the improvments to Blaikie Road’s Bridge no.1. The muncipal office and council chambers are now fully accessible and energy efficient and features an in-floor heating system.

The projects were funded under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund with $124,000 each spent by the federal, provincial and O’Connor governments.

This is another story that involved the work of our trades and money from our government. In this case, which was nice to see, the federal gov't also came to the table with some money. That has been rare.

There is an incredible amount of work going on around this town. New building here, renovations/expansion at the hospital, at the college. An incredible amount of highway construction and road work, with most of this money coming from the province.

This is not counting the incredible amount of money for other projects that have already been completed or for Bombardier.

I find it shocking that with all of these positives going on, people still can find reasons to complain and criticize. Not on this story, at least not to they read this posting, but on many other stories.

There are so many incredible things happening in this town, wouldn't it be nice if either the paper in a lengthy three part story, or television in a ten minute story, could cover off the many new projects, the new jobs and new future that is coming to this town.

it is long overdue to cover that story.

That the Federal Government has spent your childrens future wealth is nothing to celebrate. What ever happened to pay as you go? Just the way Grandma would have done it?
