There's now a helping hand available to people in need of medical equipment.

The Thunder Bay Red Cross is re-launching its Health Equipment Loan Program to temporarily provide people with equipment to assist with their transition from hospital to home.

Tuesday marked the re-launching of the HELP Program. Thunder Bay Red Cross manager Rob Kilgour said the program allows people to borrow health equipment to be able to live at home instead of a longer stay in the hospital. Kilgour said he is amazed by the support the program has received from the community. He believes HELP will be well used by the community because coming back home from the hospital can sometimes be difficult.

The equipment is donated by people in Thunder Bay as well as other branches of the Red Cross. Kilgour said that's one reason HELP can keep rental costs low.
