After a summer with little rainfall, the Thunder Bay area is in the midst of a rare downpour.

But officials with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority say the much-needed rain still is not enough to bring Thunder Bay out of a Level One low water advisory.

The advisory was issued earlier this year, and means the city has had less than 80 per cent of the normal rainfall over the past three months. In the last 24 hours, the city has seen about 30 millimetres of rain.

LRCA Chair Bill Bartley said more is needed to reach normal precipitation levels, which is something Thunder Bay hasn't seen in months. Bartley added tgat water levels are getting closer to normal, but the region could definitely use more rain.

Environment Canada said the Thunder Bay area saw about two-thirds of the normal precipitation in August and just one-third of the normal rainfall during July.

Heres an idea to get the water levels back to normal, just gather up all the tears from all the people in Neebing when the windfarm goes up.

Ive got a better idea Tannoy. Lets take all the greenie weenie windmill crazies and ask them to march into the lake, making the ultimate sacrifice for nature. That way, if there's so many of them in support of the windfarm, they'll displace enough water to restore our lake level.

Perhaps the enviornment would fair out better if all the wackos held their breath to save the planet?
