Fire destroys Vermilion Bay gas station

A popular gas station, convenience store and restaurant in Vermilion Bay is likely a total loss after a fire.

The Village Corner went up in flames Monday morning along the Trans-Canada Highway.

Fire crews from Vermilion, Dryden, Oxdrift and Wabigoon all worked to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Click here to submit a letter to the editor.

What a shame, Could not think of a better stop for the over the road drivers or the fisherman heading north. I hope they rebuild, it was a perfect stop for bait heading towards ear falls.

I drove by while fire crews were putting out hotspots... the lower part of the building was standing, but it was looking pretty rough. It might be cheaper to rebuild... but yeah i stop there everytime i drive to Winnipeg, so I also hope they rebuild
