Police in Upsala say one of their OPP cruisers was totalled Thursday after a tractor trailer crashed into the unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of a highway.
Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP say an Upsala OPP officer was responding to a report of a tractor trailer on fire in the parking lot of a business east of Upsala.
The officer was investigating the incident and parked the cruiser on the shoulder of Highway 17.
Two tractor trailer vehicles were heading eastbound and approached the scene. The first truck went around the police vehicle, but the second did not and struck the parked cruiser.
The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the incident and the officer was not injured as a result of the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
