A missing Thunder Bay man and his dog have been found dead in Illinois.

Ed Spakowski, 69, was a driver with a local RV company, charged with picking RVs up in Elkhart, Ind. and bringing them back to Thunder Bay.

Expected back on Canada Day from his latest run south of the border, he and his dog Keiko never returned. Police have been searching for the pair ever since.

Thunder Bay police on Thursday confirmed Spakowski was found dead, and that Illinois police are on scene at an undisclosed location investigating. No details on how he died have been released, although foul play has been ruled out. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Friday.

Spakowski’s sister, Darlene Stankevicius, also confirmed the death, via the Find Ed Spakowksi Facebook page.

”Dear friends, friends of friends and everyone who took precious time to look for Ed Spakowski: It is with great sadness that my brother and his dog have been found dead. I want to thank everyone for their kind words, time and effort in getting the word out to look for Ed,” she writes.

Police are expected to release more information later on Thursday evening.
