More than 8,000 support staff workers at Ontario's 24 community colleges could be walking the picket line by Thursday morning.

The workers, who include cleaners, food service staff and registration officers, will be in a legal strike position at midnight Thursday.  While the two sides have agreed on some contract details, job security and wages have not been addressed.

At Confederation College, OPSEU Local 7-31's Elaine Kerr said she is gearing up her team of 230 workers to hit the picket lines first thing Thursday morning.  She said talks have been resolved at the 11th hour before, but this time the union is not confident a deal will be reached.

She said support staff across Ontario is ready and willing to hit the picket line.

Bargaining to reach an agreement will continue until midnight. Click here to submit a letter to the editor.

Your fools if you go out.. I had to work in a UNION situation and lost big money in 35 years and strikes WE HAD TO GO OUT ON. Stay working and negotiate people.. USE YOUR HEADS the UNION you belong to doesn't care.. They still get their big paychecks whether you strike or not.

Thanks to the strikers for backing up the traffic as many people tried to leave Tim Hortons.. The traffic is blocking the view and I can see an accident or two happening with people trying to turn left out of the hotel/timmies.

In my opinion... if you want to be in a union beware of future strikes.. you choose that job.. Yes I have no sympathy but that is my thoughts/feelings.
