The five McDonald's restaurant locations in Thunder Bay have new ownership.

Rob Prober has made the trip from southern Ontario to take over the local franchises.

On Nov. 28, McDonald's switched hands from being corporately owned over to Prober and his partner Nicole Tremblay. Prober has been part of the McDonald's team for decades, moving up the chain until he became a franchisee in the Stratford and New Hamburg markets.

When the opportunity came for ownership in Thunder Bay, Prober said it was a no-brainer for the couple, as Tremblay's father lives in Thunder Bay and they're happy to be settling in the city.

Prober added that all five locations have excellent management and he's looking forward to working with the teams.

Prober will rotate between all five locations, which include Cumberland Street, Memorial Avenue, Arthur Street, Red River and the Walmart McDonald's.
