Two teens accused in the murder of a 16-year-old in 2010 have pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges.

The two accused pleaded guilty in a Thunder Bay courtroom Tuesday for a fatal incident that took place on a walkway in the County Park area in September of 2010.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was found by a passerby near Wentworth Crescent.

After an extensive investigation, Thunder Bay Police Service officers charged a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl with second-degree murder.

In court Tuesday the girls, who are now 16 and 17, entered guilty pleas to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

They will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has been scheduled for July 17.

Neither accused can be named in accordance with Youth Criminal Justice Act.
