WELL-WATER AND FOOD SAFETY UPDATE

The municipal water supply for the City of Thunder Bay continues to be safe to drink.

Well-Water Users Should Boil Their Water

City of Thunder Bay and rural area well-water users that have experienced flooding or higher than usual water levels should bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute before consumption. Well-water used for brushing teeth, making baby formula, washing foods and cooking should also be boiled.

Have Well-Water Tested After Flood Water Levels Go down

Well-water users in these areas are also advised to have their well-water tested when the flood waters go down and after the well has been disinfected. These steps will ensure water samples are not influenced by flood waters and are taken from a clean well.

To find out how to disinfect your well, visit TBDHU.com or call the Health Unit’s environmental health program at 625-5930.

Bottles for water samples will be made available from the Health Unit, the Public Health Laboratory at 336 South Syndicate Avenue, at the Oliver-Paipoonge Municipal office and Conmee Community Centre.
