Recent garage fire ruled arson

Investigators are confirming that a suspicious garage fire in Westfort was the result of arson.

Fire Prevention Officer for the Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue, Paul Abernethy, said the Wednesday morning blaze in the 500 block of East Empire Avenue was definitely deliberately set.

Abernethy also suspects that the fire is connected to a two-month string of similar fires in the area.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Thunder Bay Police Service.
