That big white concert tent on Kenora's waterfront now has a name.

The new facility opened last September with a concert by Blue Rodeo. Since then the city's brand leadership team has been working on what to call it.

The original name was the Big Tent on the Harbourfront, and Kenora Mayor David Canfield and others had been lobbying for it to be called the Harbourdome.

But in the end, the branding team settled on calling it the Whitecap Pavilion.

The next big event at the facility is the three-day long Harbourfest on the August long weekend, featuring rock musicians Tom Cochrane, Buckcherry and Burton Cummings.

Having been to kenora recently and seen the pavillion first hand it's amazing and the negativity about the poles in our fine marina is wrong.
