New swimming advisory posted at Boulevard Lake

By tbnewswatch.com

For the second time this summer, an advisory has been posted at one of the beaches at Boulevard Lake.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says a high level of E. coli bacteria was found at the Sunnyside beach.

An advisory doesn't mean that the beach is closed to swimming, beach goers should know that there could be risk involved if they plan on going into the water.

Hmmm.. maybe don't even bother having this has a "public swim hole" cause it seems every summer this area is closed due to e-coli found .. there's plenty of other beautiful areas we can improve as a "public beach" for swimming ! that isn't a man made swim hole

The problem could be rectified, but it will take $$$$$ to do it.

And how is this different then any other year for the past what.. 50 years? But people keep swimming here, its nasty. especially when you see babies in the water. Why not have a outdoor pool in the North-end somewhere. Never mind, that makes too much sense.

lol advocate! urine is not a source of E.Coli...it's feces. Mainly seagull, geese, ducks and other water 'foul'. These advisories are a way for the City to cover its butt. I wonder why Chippewa has not been under an advisory yet?

20, 30 or 40 years ago, there were no such advisories, I think. people swam in water on local public beaches without a care in the world because there were lifeguards and not some lab rat from the health unit saying it's risky to swim.

E.Coli is present in most bodies of water visited by wildlife, along with other bacteria, parasites, etc. If you go out to camp, would you take a drink of water from the lake or river without boiling it first?
