Northbound traffic on the James Street Bridge will be closed while workers make some repairs.

The city announced that the northbound lane on the swing bridge will be closed from Aug. 7 at 6 a.m. until Aug. 8. The city will also be closing Brown Street between Gordon Street and Christina Street from Aug. 9 to Aug. 10.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during these closures. The closures are necessary for the rehabilitation of the CN Rail Lines.

That bridge is getting pretty old and decrepit...

Isn't it owned by the railroad? I wonder what they'll do when that bridge is deemed no longer safe?
... Which should be pretty soon by the looks of it. The supports are getting thinner and thinner every year at the waterline.

Since there's not really very much industry left, they may decide to just put a train bridge in and make everybody drive around.

That could be a little tough for the gas stations and stuff that's over that bridge...

well that's just great! why do I have to be inconvenienced for a day for some silly bridge repairs? now my daily routine of getting cheap smokes and gas is going to be disrupted and I will have to take a longer alternate route!

I suppose I can drive 30 to 40 kph over the speed limit to make up for lost time.

If they take those stupid speed bumps off the bridge, the bridge would last a little longer. The extra shock the bridge receives for each vehicle going over the speed bumps is taking a pretty good toll on the structure. It was built for weight not shock.
