The region’s health unit has issued another swimming advisory.

Officials with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit have issued a swimming advisory for the main beach at Boulevard Lake, which has been red-flagged as having high levels of E. coli bacteria.

The main beach at Chippewa Park also remains under a swimming advisory.

The warnings from the Health Unit do not mean that the beach are closed, nor are they put in place to stop people from swimming. The advisories are meant to inform swimmers and residents about the E. coli levels.

High levels of E. coli bacteria can cause skin, eye, nose and throat infections as well as stomach problems.

The beach sampling will continue until late August.

Additional information on all swimming advisories is available on the Health Unit’s website.

So what, it's really not even news anymore, seeing as it's either Boulevard or Chippewa that's being closed every second week. Oh, sorry, not closed, ADVISED.

I think the TBDHU should just get 2 big signs that warn of a summer advisory from May until Oct for the 2 beaches. That should cover it, and it can then focus on other issues. Of course, keep testing, and when you close it, put up a big CLOSED sign.

Year in and Year out this never changes...it is long overdue that the city make a serious attempt to clean up our so called beaches and in town swimming spots....the goose dung is such a wonderful site to behold both at Boulevard Lake and Chippewa Park...I can only imagine what any tourist to these 2 places must be thinking...when they encounter these facilities...their comments would definitely not be welcome news to Paul Pepe and our other city officials...it is time to see this problem for what it is and for the city to get off of their backsides and do something about it for once and for all!

So sick of hearing about this every second week. Boulevard and Chippewa are so gross year round... I don't even let my dog swim in either, advisory or not.

Time to clean these places out so people can actually enjoy them.

I've heard of other cities putting decoy foxes around public parks and apparently it very successfully deters Canadian geese from landing in the areas. How about trying that, it couldn't hurt.

As for Boulevard lake, maybe a good dredging is in order?

The City will be "dredging" my pocketbook to fix this problem . Why not let dog owners let their dogs loose when the Geese are infesting the parks . Don't like loose dogs ? Go for a walk in Marina Park .

Does the splash pad at the marina get tested for E. coli?

My brother has a small pond on his land and he shoots about a dozen geese per week to keep it clean. You don't have to shoot them all, just a few and then they mostly stay out. Perhaps the city should do this as well?

Here is a novel idea.
Just put up a sign at the beaches in question modeled after the forest fire risk signs.
Level of contamination low , moderate , high with the pointer and all lol.
Add a daily updated link on the city site so all can look it up before leaving home so they do not waste their time hehe.
So simple its beyond their train of thought lmfao.
