The repairs continue on the James Street swing bridge, this time in the southboud lane.

But motorists won't have to wait too long for the bridge to reopen.

The aging swing bridge is being repaired by CN Rail.  The northbound lane was closed for two days earlier this week. Rotted support beams are being replaced, and old bolts are being removed.

The upgrades are expected to improve driving conditions on the bridge.

Workers at the scene estimated there is at least one more day of work to do until the bridge will be cleared and reopened to motorists.

The approach from the FWFN/City Road side is much improved and smooth over the tracks. Didn't notice a lot of difference in the clunk-clunk plates on the bridge but all seems fine. Thanks CN!

mmmmmmmmmmm....I drove across the bridge this afternoon and it really appears that no one even turned a wrench so too speak on their so called up-grades...it looks much the same as it always has...here is to hoping one day they may see fit to paint this rusted and unsightly monstrosity...here's to holding to the fact that miracles can happen...and never say never!

Can we please have those speed bumps fixed too? Pretty sure they've done more damage to vehicles than any speeders would have caused...It's like driving over a spike strip.

I've driven over each side a couple times already since yesterday and I see much improvements. The speed bumps are fixed and many of those "Clunk clunk" plates that were in chunks and missing pieces are replaced. It was much smoother. Thanks for the fix up!

Next time make it, like, at least 8 inches wider, ok?

I ride a bike so it isn't a concern for me but the pickup drivers look absolutely terrified of losing one of their magnificent, 14 by 22 inch mirrors.
