Expressway mishap

By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com

No one appears to have been hurt Monday when a dump truck rear-ended a parked vehicle on the Thunder Bay Expressway.

Both drivers were charged. The driver of the dump truck was charged with careless driving and the driver of the Grand Am was charged with parking in a no-parking zone.

Thunder Bay Police would not say why they had their K-9 unit searching through the edge of the forest alongside the highway, between Oliver Road and John Street, only that it was on an unrelated matter.

Traffic was not re-routed, though police and highway crews remain on scene investigating and cleaning up the aftermath of the collision.

Why was a vehicle parked on the expressway? That's not how you use it.

I saw the aftermath of that accident... there must have been no one in that car. It was a mess! I thought for sure someone would have passed on in that....

The vehicle was parked right where the McIntyre River flows under it . People park here all the time to either fish, or check out river, etc ,etc .This explains why he was possible parked here and why the car was empty . Of course maybe the car broke down there but i doubt it.

My Goodness!
Such a mystery. The driver of the car is the only one that knows the real reason why the car was left there.

So whats the deal, you get a flat tire or your car breaks down and you leave it there to go get help, you get a ticket for parking?

I'm sure you would be allowed some time to tow it or fix the tire. If this were the case, people could becharged for parking at red lights for 30 seconds.
