MNR keeping close eye on fire activity for long weekend

Officials with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources says the fire hazard rating in this area will be between high and extreme for the long weekend.
That, combined with a weekend forecast calling for hot weather and possibly lightning in some areas has those MNR officials concerned.
Four new fires were reported and confirmed in the Northwest region Thursday, however none are said to be posing a significant threat.
