ARMSTRONG, Ont. – The body of a man reported missing during a fly-in fishing trip has been found, police confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Officers with the Armstrong detachment of the OPP were advised that a man who had been fishing with his grandson on Mojikit Lake, a remote fly-in only lake located about 60 kilometres of Armstrong, Ont., had gone missing.

The 74-year-old man, who was with his 21-year-old grandson, had been fishing when their small boat flipped over after hitting a buoy located upstream from a dam at the south end of the lake.

The 21-year-old man was able to make it to shore uninjured.

Just before noon on Tuesday, members of the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit recovered the body of Matthew Dawd, 76, of Thunder Bay, below the dam.

A post mortem examination will be conducted in Thunder Bay on Sept. 5.
