Man suspected of propositioning teen at mall arrested

By tbnewswatch.com

A 52-year-old man has been charged with invitation to sexual touching and assault following an incident at a local mall.

A detective with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s criminal investigation unit made the arrest following an incident at Grandview Mall on Sept. 2. That incident involved a 14-year-old boy. Police confirmed that arrest in a news release issued to media Tuesday morning.

An unidentified 52-year-old man now faces the pair of charges based on an investigation into that Sept. 2 incident.

The suspect was released from police custody and is expected to appear in court on Oct. 9.

No logic behind that whatsoever.

So what they let him out because he has a good legal councel ? Or is it that he has a good job ? Either way they should keep this pervert locked up and given a trial and hung after he is found guilty. Now when that point comes the child will go to tesify and lock him up, as he should have been in the first place. Now he allowed to roam the city to get at another child, which this next time could be worse, and will affect another victim and the community as a whole !! Great work there Mr. Crown !!

Nice work T.B.P.
And to the judge that granted this P.O.S. bail.
What were you thinking?

MommaBear07 says:
I cannot believe that they would let him out on bail, or with a summons. Preying on children is a habitual issue and is not going to cure itself due to an arrest. This man needs to be jailed until his hearing as not to endanger any other kids.

Only in Thunderbay can a pedophile be released into society to offend again before his trial ! What are the police thinking !!!

Because arrested is not convicted. The person is not yet guilty of any crime.

He is not found guilty of anything yet, and he only propositioned a boy, we don't have a sex offender registry here, where you are alerted of the dangers, I had one live a few doors down, and I found out the hard way, he got charged, and told he had to move, so he did to another community, The police have nothing to do with him being released, the judge and the court system, we need more jails, more cells, more harsher punishments, and that alone is not a thunder bay problem, its provincial, and federal, but i guess its easier if we just always blame our police force.

we do have a sex offender registry but its a privite one as most that are on there when they are arrested there a gag order on it to protect the victim so thats why its a privite registry

I thought we were innocent until proven guilty? Are you sure he did what he did? I hope the judicial system would never react as some of you have.

They should have kept this creep in jail for a while...instead of this quick release.!

I don't get why TBNewswatch allows comments to stories like these. Every time a court matter gets posted, comments are open. Then they are closed and hidden a few hours later.

Don't get me wrong, I like comments. I just know that this site is concerned about legal situations (and that is fair). You would think it would be obvious now to not allow comments in the first place.

The police did they're job.
And did it well. Less then a week to find this creep.
They did not let him out.

You seem to have a limited knowledge of the legal system.

The Wolf says:
It is amazing how many people have tried and convicted this man with little to no evidence, trial or knowledge.

I am so glad we don't let the common person make any legal decisions as society as a whole would break down to a state of Anarchy and a situation like this one would be nothing to what would really be happening.

Tom Sanderson says:
Innocent until proven guilty. Everything is assumed. If you were the accused would you want your name plastered all over the media prior to court and a conviction?
Forget about ever learning his name as it won't ever be released because they have to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
Boohoo.

Innocent until proven guilty unless it's by a group of your local TBNEWSWATCH commentating peers, and then it's guilty only to be *hopefully* proven innocent.

Why is it that we're allowed to comment here, but not when police officers allegedly do bad/illegal things?
