THUNDER BAY – The victim of a daytime robbery has died.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to the reported robbery behind a building in the 200 block of North Syndicate Street just after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say a 29-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 50-year-old man during the robbery.

It's the city's third homicide of 2012.

On Thursday the victim was seriously injured and police said he was listed in critical condition at the intensive care unit of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The accused was arrested by police a short distance away from the scene of the crime.

Both the accused and the victim were said to be known to one another.

Police say charges are pending.
