The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash says the other driver jumped out of their vehicle and into another before fleeing the scene

Police are investigating what appears to be a very bizarre hit-and-run.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a collision on Memorial and Central Avenues just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Few details were available at the scene, but it appears that two vehicles – a minivan and a car – collided as a motorist turned out from the McDonald’s restaurant. Both vehicles were substantially damaged as a result of the crash.

The driver of the van involved says the person driving the car left their vehicle, ran to another nearby vehicle, got in and drove off.

The investigation is ongoing.

I believe the term "hit-and-run" applies to vehicle and pedestrian collisions where the vehicle leaves the scene. This case should be characterized as merely a "leaving the scene of an accident" event.

if the perp "ran" to the other vehicle... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

You may believe it, but you're wrong. The term 'hit and run' pertains to any accident (vehicle on pedestrian, vehicle on vehicle, vehicle on building, etc) where the offending driver hits and then leaves. Hence, hit and run.

the term hit and run means just that.. someone or something got hit.. and the other person ran. can apply to anything.

This sounds like something that would happen in the video game Grand Theft Auto.
