GUELPH, Ont. -- Thunder Bay has become a part of an international investigation against a Guelph artist who faces charges of making child pornography.
The investigation led by the Guelph Police Service started back in March after reports came in of an inappropriate relationship between a man in his 30s and a young girl. Police charged 38-year-old Jeffrey Dakin with various sexual offences including possessing and making child pornography.
For the past six months, the investigation has led police across Canada as well as in the United States and even to Europe. There have also been incidents reported to have taken place in Thunder Bay.
“We’ve laid two charges in relation to incidents that occurred in Thunder Bay,” Sgt. Douglas Pflug told tbnewswatch.com Friday.
“I have to check but I don’t think the victims were from Thunder Bay but it may have been a situation where they may have been from Guelph and have been on a trip from there. We have two incidents that were alleged to have been committed and we laid those charges here.”
Since Dakin has gone to many places in his travels, Pflug said they’re asking anyone to come forward if they believe they or their children may have come into contact with him.
“We’re looking to speak with anyone who knows him from whatever location they are,” he said. “If they know him or know any victims that were in his sphere of influence to come forward.”
