Bikers have never had so much fun riding in one place.

The Port Arthur Prosvita was a dance party, a cycling event and a fundraiser all in one Tuesday as the second annual Coast to Coast Inside Ride rolled into town. The fundraising event features teams of six riding on stationary bikes for 10 minutes at a time in an effort to raise money for kids with cancer.

The local charity for the event was Camp Quality.

“We’re all pretty pumped and having a great time here riding bikes to raise money,” Camp Quality director Gladys Berringer said.
Teams are asked to raise at least $1,000 through pledges. Last year’s ride raised around $8,000.

This year, they’re hoping to top $20,000. Berrenger, dressed as a chicken as her tem was the “Chicks on Cycles,” said Camp Quality relies solely on fundraising.

“We have no annual funding from any other source,” she said. “Thunder Bay has been a supportive, wonderful community that has really embraced Camp Quality.”

Along with year-round support for families, the organization hosts a week-long camp for kids with cancer every year at East Loon Lake.

“It’s really a time for families to not think about cancer. It’s an opportunity for the kids to be kids and just enjoy themselves,” she said
