A man accused of second-degree murder has been remanded until Oct. 19.
Jeffrey Charles Tomagatick, 29, appeared in court Thursday morning on charges of second-degree murder and robbery in connection with the death of 50-year-old Murray Keesic.
Tomagatick was also wanted for break and enter, theft under $5,000, breach of probation charges and assault with a weapon.
Tomagatick was arrested several hours after the Sept. 13 assault and alleged robbery of Keesic, who died overnight in the hospital. The alleged incident took place near a laneway behind a residence in the 200 block of North Syndicate Avenue.
Police suspected the assault was a robbery; cash believed to have been stolen from Keesic was allegedly found on Tomagatick when he was arrested.
The arrest was made with the assistance of witnesses, who were able to help police identify the suspect.
It was Thunder Bay’s third homicide of 2012.
