A 26-year-old-man remains in stable condition after being stabbed outside a Cumming Street residence Wednesday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call around 11 a.m. Police say that it appears two men started arguing inside the residence and then moved outside where the victim was stabbed. He was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and remains in stable condition.

Police located the suspect a short time later a few blocks from where the assault took place. Police charged the 19-year-old-man with aggravated assault and breach of probation. Police say he also had outstanding warrants against him.

Police also added that the victim and accused knew each other and that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Breach of probation AGAIN?! What is wrong with our legal system? or is it extremely liberal Judges? Clearly the system is NOT working!

The Thunder Bay southside downtown and immediate surrounding area is clearly the "crime centre and hell hole" of Thunder Bay 24/7. Perhaps, just make it a containment area, rather than forcing the problem makers to other areas and neighbourhoods, at least keep our city "predictable".

yet again open comments for tabloid news. your page is becoming not worth viewing. how about letting people voice opinions on more sensetive issues.

to allow a comment on sensitive topics can cause a major problem. Everyone has there opinion on situations but some articles are too sensitive to comment on. for exmaple, the letter that was relased from police most recently. Some of us view it non rasist but unfortunately others did. To allow comments on such a topic can cause an up roar thats unnecessary.

why it it everytime someone is arrested the police already know who the person is and 90% of the time the person already has a warrent out on them? shouldnt they already be behind bars for the warrent before something happens if the cops know who and where they are?

Because the police are not psychic and are not able to FIND said individual until they do something to attract attention to themselves, like commit another crime.

This area is my old haunt from when I was a kid. Things have changed so much. Hate seeing stories like this. But these aren't random attacks for the most part; victim usually knows the attacker.

aright this is getting ridiculous..two stabbings in two days? how many is that this year? let alone this month..

..breach of probation..again... the two people knew each other ...again.. alcohol was a factor.. AGAIN... lets face it..we ALL know what the situation is.. and this NEEDS to be dealt with.. I'm sick of hearing about the repeat offenders day in and day out.. this city needs to be cleaned up..and cleaned up now!

This entire city is turning into a dump...these punks know they will get off, so that is why they continue...wake up judges, put their sorry asses in jail where these losers belong...until these people are punished properly, this will continue...if my family wasn't living here, i would get the hell outta dodge...just makes me sick to read about another stabbing, almost daily!!!!!

This city is just sad. The criminals are sad and so are the police. If the police did their jobs correctly this wouldn't happen. They're just lazy, all of them.

What does this have to do with police? These two were inside arguing, then went outside where the stabbing occurred. Do you think they have crystal balls? They found the accused....job done.

bman..look at the Supreme Court of Canada decision R. vs Feeney 1997...that will explain wht the police dont just go into a house and arrest people with an outstanding warrant. Each and every arrest warrant MUST be endorsed to allow police to make entry to a residence to effect an arrest. Therefore the onus is on the judge or jp issuing the warrant to determine if there are enough grounds to endorse an arrest warrant for entry to a residence.....

How much is the Police Budget?!? I say GET MORE officers off a desk and on the beat....they are desperately needed!

Again, not sure what people drinking together, fighting at a residence has to do with the police.... you could have a cop on every corner and these people will still do these things to each other. I think you need to think a little more about what society has become, and be glad the police found the accused quickly.

aparks says:
I'm confused how all of these stabbings are considered assaults when taken to court? In my opinion, when you hit someone that is an assualt.. when you stab someone, you are attempting murder. When will the courts take this seriously?
9/27/2012 1:18:43 PM
olive garden says:
its not the police fault , its our goverment and the court system , why do you think were getting a new court house , someone has to pay for all the lawyers and judges , if they dont step up and pose stricker laws this will only get worse and worse and in the long run we pay and keep paying for this.

stuck? says:
It seems to be a very, VERY common misconception that the police are "responsible" for persecuting these people.

Their job is to serve and protect. Get the people off the streets. It's the jobs of the lawyers, judges and juries that decide what to do with the offenders.

Police do what they are supposed to do. They are not baby sitters or parents.

Its a completely far fetched comparison but just like people think that the ONLY thing people working at convenience stores should be doing is SERVING the customer when they should be cleaning the store, doing inventory, stocking etc.

Police protect the public, respond to various types of calls around the city, first responders, etc. They are not judge/jury/executioner.

Maybe we need some fellow tbnewswatch commenters to step up to the the plate, become lawyers or judges and then sentence these people?
