Children allegedly assaulted, kidnapped in KI

The community of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug is on full alert Friday after police say a man abducted and assaulted four children.
Two of the youngsters, aged six and eight, were allegedly sexually assaulted.

Two of the children were able to get away and alert their parents, who immediately attended the scene, apprehended the suspect and called police.

Danny Sakakeep, 33, was arrested and faces charges of kidnapping, assault, sexual assault and uttering threats contrary to the criminal code.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Sioux Lookout court on Friday.

The victims are not related to the accused and all four have received immediate and ongoing medical attention for non life-threatening injuries in both KI and Thunder Bay.
