Mac’s robbed

By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com

A trio of males are wanted by police after the city’s latest Mac’s Convenience Store robbery.

Police say the suspects entered the Hodder Avenue location at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday and demanded money and cigarettes from the employee on duty.

The three left the store on foot headed southbound.

The investigation continues.

I know the cashier and he said they were wearing ski masks to cover their faces.

99% of the time these people are the same people who have committed the offenses before. There was a rash of robberies and then they caught them and they stopped. Now there is a rash of robberies again, so it would probably be prudent to know if those arrested have been released. Gonna bet my 20 bucks they have been and its them again.

The ones arrested last time were all over 18, but we should have a curfew anyway because children are terrible.

Actually many of the robberies were committed by street kids last time. Kids who have grown up on the street and have nothing to look forward to other then going back to the streets when they get out.

I would support incarceration for these kids if they could give these kids an education/ work skills to allow them some type of life on the outside. Many haven't even completed a grade 10 and in today's world that will get you nowhere.

This cycle will continue until either they are permanently locked up (unlikely), dead or until someone breaks the cycle.

What are you talking about? Out of all the Mac's robberies committed in the last year, only one case was minors. The rest were all adults.

I am not sure where Panzer IV is getting their information but it is NOT factual that "99% of the time these people are the same people who have committed the offenses before". Nor is it factual that "many of the robberies were committed by street kids last time." As one can see through open source media and TBPS news releases, the vast majority in the past five years have been committed by adults and there is nowhere near a 99% rate of recidivism in terms of the same people committing those robberies. I would suggest that he/she use their $20 more wisely by betting on something else and also be cautious about informing others of incorrect data.

Solution. Eliminate cash from these stores. Only accept debit and credit cards and separate the staff from the robbers with safety glass.
Consider eliminating the corner stores from selling cigaretts by allowing to only be sold in smoke shops.
