This is really strange. These friends decided to all OD at the same time at different locations? I don't understand the motive behind this.

Probably a suicide pact. So sad. My heart goes out to the families and friends of these girls. Please show them much love and support.

The motive? It's called a suicide pact. So incredibly sad that these young girls felt this was the answer to whatever is bothering them. I hope they all recover and that their families get them the help they so desperately need. A young person losing their life is a tragedy families never fully recover from and when it is by their own hand it devastates an entire society left wondering why? Please girls, it's not the answer.

The simple fact that we don't have safe injections sites and more services focused on empathy, information/support and harm reduction is a testament to Thunder Bay's profoundly backwards thinking. No windfarm. Racist/corrupt police run rampant. Apathy is everywhere.

When will people educate themselves and face facts that the way were going about fixing these issues is wrong and needs to be fixed?

It's not defeat to admit you need a new strategy.

You make absolutely no sense at all in your rambling rant. What does it have to do with the topic at hand, we have 5 young people who have all attempted to take their lives.

All the things you mentioned have nothing to do with this. Unreal.

suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem.
It is sad that people feel that their problems are so bad that they see taking their own lives as the only way out. As someone here already said, the effects on those who are left to wonder why is devastaing.

What? Windfarm? Injection sites? Corrupt Police?

Focus on the tragedy at hand.

Counseling...what counseling?? A school counselor? From a mom of a 16 year old that ran away from home 4 months ago I know first hand that there is not a whole heck of a lot available out there for 16 and 17 year olds. They are in what is considered a grey area, they aren't adults and yet parents have no power to do anything to even try to help them. We were even told by our family doctor, near impossible to find someone to talk to for that age group. Finally MONTHS later someone called the house as a referral, only for me to tell them I had no way of getting a hold of my run away...ya tks for the help! I truly hope this kids get some help, unfortunately it takes doing what they did and being hospitalized for them to truly get the help they need. My heart aches for the parents.

Oh my goodness :(. Girls, I hope you get and take the help you need, this isn't the answer and you have so much to live for. I've known far too many people lost to suicide and its a horrible void that never goes away or gets easier to deal with.... Don't hurt your loved ones and those around you with this permanent solution. And most of all don't hurt yourselves over it!! You all deserve to live full and happy lives, don't short change yourselves...

Sending you all the love in the world. <3

jimmyboy...on one hand I do agree that you have to feel for their parents, but what if lack of parenting is contributing to the issues of these kids?
