THUNDER BAY -- Police have re-opened Highway 102.

Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP announced Thursday morning that Highway 102 had been closed because of icy and unsafe road conditions.

Shortly after noon that same day police announced that the road had been re-opened to traffic traveling in both direction.

Privatization = loss of control
Loss of control = irresponsibility
Irresponsibility = dangerous and precarious times

Privatization might work if there were still sufficient support for public sector watchdogs who would hold the private contractors accountable...but that's been cut too.

I'm a gov't worker about to be privitized...so I get where your comin from, BUT I also live off of 102 and I can tell you right now it's much nicer getting past Emerald Green where the private company takes over cuz up to that point it's the city who takes for ever to plow and or salt out that way. The private company is actually on it right away. Bridges are ALWAYS slippery and that's where the accident happened!

It's the same thing that happened with TLC. TLC was created by NASA in the 70's, and now it no longer shows any learning programs, just reality crap.

We're getting below zero weather at a time of year when we typically don't encounter these conditions. It doesn't matter who was responsible, the road probably would have been unsafe and had to be closed.

With climate change, unpredictable weather and inconveniences are simply a fact of life. We should be more prepared for them in the futre, but I am not going to blame anyone for what happened this morning.

Happens every year when the first bit of frost or freezing rain arrives... slow down and drive according to road conditions, don't blame others.. ie:privatization.
