Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Van Norman and Hill streets that left a crumpled SUV on its roof.

Police say the driver and the passenger of the SUV were able to get out of the vehicle, but the 20-year-old driver was taken to hospital by ambulance. The SUV passenger and the driver of the silver pick-up involved in the collision did not require medical attention.

Police allege the maroon-coloured SUV, which was traveling southbound on North Hill Street, failed to stop at the stop sign at the Van Norman Street intersection and was struck by the eastbound truck.

Charges are pending and police say the investigation continues.

You seriously think that this only happens here?

Comments like this drive me crazy and are usually made by....lets just say if I posted what I think of people who think like that my post will never get passed the censors. What I will say is people who think like this need to get out of this city and educate themselves of the rest of the world.

I'm sorry, but I've lived in several other cities, and Thunder Bay drivers are the worst I've ever seen. Every single day I narrowly avoid accidents by people who run stop signs, don't know how to use a 4 way stop, weave in and out of lanes or just plain cut people off to get where they're going 30 seconds sooner.

Bad drivers exist everywhere, but not quite in the abundance that they seem to here.

I lived in several different cities and yes the driving here is the worst I have ever seen.
Speeding, running red lights, driving in the passing lane, not signalling not knowing how to merge, and not being able to park between lines. Do they have a driving test here?

Fools or trolls, not sure which you 2 yahoos really are.

Ask anyone where they live and they all say the same thing "the drivers here are the worst in the world" and cite exactly the behaviour you just outlined.

it would probably help if the city had proper merge lanes, but nope, we have those stupid yield signs everwhere

This is probably the easiest news story you guys have had to cover since Hillcrest closed. It happened *right there*.

How long until the Newshour is interrupted by a bad driver crashing through that garage door?

Ya, I dunno what it is with people missing stops signs. Blind, Dumb, Stupid, or all three?

Wanna give a shout out to the driver southbound on Balsam St on Thanksgiving afternoon. Driving that purple Honda Ridgeline (wannabe Avalanche) that blew the stop sign at Huron Ave like it wasn't even there! Your very fortunate I had my kids with me !!!!
