This is a sad reality
I hope all the agressive bicycle and scooter riders stop and think for a moment.
It doesnt matter who's right or wrong, when it comes to bike or scooter vs. car or truck the car or truck always wins.
I hope the people involved are all right and recover quickly.

....or the cyclist was following the rules coasting down high street and the car pulled out onto high street, striking the cyclist who couldn't stop in time and didn't want to swerve into oncoming traffic.. we just don't know.

You're right that the vehicle always wins, but maybe this is an aggressive driver thing and not an aggressive cyclist? considering the habits of some drivers and bikers out there, it could be either.

It's amazing, isn't it? They a bicycle a vehicle, yet when a bicycle hits a person, the most the person receives is a broken bone which can be healed in 8 weeks. If a car hits a bicycle, the bicycle is completely destroyed, the rider of the bicycle is mangled beyond recognition (smashed in face, broken arms and legs, smashed pelvis, snapped spine, etc.) and yet it's a vehicle. I thought when a vehicle crashes into another vehicle, there's supposed to be an airbag or seatbelt to protect them. Some vehicle. The Government just wants to kill people.

I don't know what your comment means or why people agreed with it.

Are you suggesting a bike should have a seatbelt and a airbag?...Have you ever seen a car accident, cars can get destroyed too and people do get hurt. The government wants to kill people, what an odd comment.

Can someone describe an aggressive cyclist for me? I’m struggling to picture someone riding a bike aggressively.

No, that's not what I am saying. I am saying the Government and Police keep calling BICYCLES "vehicles" when they weigh less than 40 lbs, but when it comes to a REAL vehicle (1 and a half tons), bicycles are completely destroyed and the rider of it is a total paraplegic for the rest of his life. I am basically saying BICYCLES aren't vehicles. They weigh nowhere NEAR what a vehicle weighs. When put into perspective, when a bicycle crashes into a person, a person will only suffer a broken arm or a cut, or scrapes from being knocked down, or a ran over foot, as opposed to a bicycle being hit by a car, leading up to the complete devastation mentioned in my before post. That's what I mean. A bicycle isn't a vehicle until they start making them as heavy as cars or motorcycles. You are in a much better position hitting someone on a sidewalk than a bicycle getting hit by a car (not that I would ever do that. Just ride slow on the sidewalk and make room when people are there).

Without knowing any facts, I hope the comment is not assuming this cyclist was aggressive.

Aggressive bicycle and scooter riders? How do you know what happened? I see way more aggressive drivers in this city than aggressive bicyclists!

I'm an aggressive cyclist but that's limited to freeriding... the danger is not the cyclist on the road, it's the distracted drivers in the cars.

The danger is actually both. I have seen so many cyclists go straight through red lights and stop signs. I have also seen many distracted drivers either on their phones, texting dealing with their lap dogs, etc. It is a combination of many things. People just need to slow down and realize that their lives and other lives are worth more than a few seconds or minutes saved by carelessness.

Curious as to why comments are allowed on this article, but not on the article about the accident just down the street from this accident?

Don't always be quick to blame the driver.. I've seen a lot of cyclists disobeying laws...

I always use turn signals when biking in traffic. I can't say the same for the cars I am following, which on several occasions have just randomly darted onto other roads with almost no warning.
