THUNDER BAY -- A 64-year-old bus driver has been charged after a collision between a school bus and pedestrian Friday morning.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a woman was sent to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after she was struck by a school bus. The incident took place just before 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Arthur Street and Parkdale Boulevard.

Police say they believe the 24-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street when she was struck by the bus, which was turning left from Arthur Street to head northbound on Parkdale Boulevard.

An ambulance brought the woman to the hospital where she has since been released. Her injuries were described as being minor.

The bus driver and his student passengers reported no injuries as a result of the incident.

The bus driver has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
