The OPP say they arrested two suspects they alleged fled a routine traffic stop east of Marathon, stole gas from a station west of the Northern Ontario community and were finally taken down in a stolen black Hydundai SUV when OPP used a tire deflation device to immobilize the vehicle.
The two occupants were wanted in conjunction with an incident in Fredericton, N.B., where police allege the suspects tried to abduct a female at knifepoint and then stole her vehicle.
The female driver, 42-year-old Kelly Dawn Maguire of Saint John, N.B., was charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two charges of possession of stolen property, theft under $5,000 and being unlawfully at large.
The male passenger, 54-year-old Ralph Neil Lagimodiere, also of Saint John, was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, theft under $5,000 and being unlawfully at large.
Both suspects were taken into custody awaiting further investigation.
