THUNDER BAY -- If you haven't already done so, you may want to get out your parka.

The area is expecting a cold snap and while the temperatures are on par with January averages,  Environment Canada's Peter Kimbell says that people might not be ready for the January cold this year.

"It may be a bit of a shock to some people to experience what we would normally be seeing at this time of year," Kimbell said during an interview with CKPR Radio Wednesday.

"Beginning Sunday and into next week, lows of -25C to -28C and highs of only -18C and -20C."

This follows a week that saw temperatures climbing to unseasonable highs of 6C.

According to Environment Canada's long-range forecast, the city can expect a low of -27C and a high of -20 on Sunday.

There will be no relief on Monday or Tuesday, as the forecast low for both those days is currently sitting at -26C.

Cold snap? Hardly. If you consider -20's a cold snap then you're in the wrong country.

Compared to the temps that we have had, yes, it is a "cold snap".

Jeez, do you have to be absolutely confrontational on EVERY single article posted on here? The negativity you spout is ridiculous.

It's actually just the weather going back to seasonal conditions. Next week is when we get the cold snap, but it will still be less of a deviation from normal than the warm weather we've been having.

I think we'd be better off if a couple like you stopped contributing hot air to the atmosphere. Get a clue, you joke.

This nice thread about cold and snow got turned into debates and arguing.

For once can't we have one thread where everybody doesn't argue about something as trivial as what constitutes a "cold snap"?

Go argue about the multiplex or the teachers :(
